This Section was started about 12 years ago and has proved very successful.
The popular Craft Section meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 10.00 am to 12 noon. The members enjoy a variety of handicrafts and we have interesting speakers/demonstrators from time to time. Our fee per session is £1.50 and we do require proof of double Covid vaccination and membership to the centre although the first taster visit is free.
The group covers a variety of crafts including needlework, knitting, card making, beading, patchwork etc.
At one meeting each month we try to book a demonstrator or speaker, covering a diversity of crafts throughout the year. The alternative morning is a general Workshop when we bring our own crafts to continue working on.
Some ladies make baby and toddler items which are donated to the League of Friends' shop in Bournemouth Hospital while others crochet blankets for Oakhaven Hospice. Also some knit hats, scarves and gloves for a local Womens' Refuge.
We usually have a table at the Centre's Open Day each year displaying some of our work.
We are a friendly group and always welcome new members with an interest in craft.
